His medical knowledge and expertise in cardiovascular diseases saved my heart

When I was 43 years old, I found out I had a heart rhythm disorder called Atrial Fibrillation. I went to see a cardiologist who treated me for one year during which time I was in and out of atrial fibrillation.  My heart pumping function had declined to about 40% and I was not feeling too well.  I discussed my medical condition with my gastroenterologist who recommended Dr. Goel.  Dr. Goel took time and explained the different stages of atrial fibrillation and treatment options available to me. In reviewing my past medical treatments Dr Goel felt that I was between stage 2 and permanent. I was told once you reach permanent stage of atrial fibrillation there is no treatment. Dr. Goel recommended a rhythm control medication followed by a cardioversion procedure to get my heart back in rhythm. He performed the procedure successfully.  My heart is back to normal rhythm and pumping function has since recovered to 60% which is normal.  I feel like a normal person now.  I was able to stop taking Coumadin and my rhythm control medication was changed to a simpler medication as my heart got better.  If I had not met Dr. Goel, my heart pumping could have deteriorated further at my young age and atrial fibrillation could have become permanent.  I am thankful for the recommendation to Dr. Goel.  I believe he is an excellent cardiologist. His medical knowledge and expertise in cardiovascular diseases saved my heart.
